He served on the western fronts in France and Germany,seeing action at the Battle of the
Bulge.Following the war,heattended Tufts University in Boston, graduating with adegree in civil engineer- ing.Hethen worked for the Boston & Maine Railroad Co., as atrack supervisor, from 1948 until 1968. From 1968 until 2001, he worked at the Department of Transportation in Washington, DC,serving as adivision chief for track and safety research during the latter part of his career there.Heretired from the DOTatthe age of 79 and spent his retirement years supporting his family and indulging his passion for military history,books and clas- sical music.Heispredeceased by two sons,Dennis and Terence,and his wife,the former Mary Kelly.Heissurvived by two daughters,Nancy Hall and Lynn Marcin, and ason, Brendan, as well as seven grandchildren, Shannon and Cory Hall, Kayla and Emily O’Sullivan, Christina and Megan O'Sullivan, and Cain

Robert F. Moran passed away peacefully on September 7, 2010 at his home in Sarasota, Fl. He was born on March 23, 1923 in Vermont. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy as aHospital Corpsman at the beginning of WWII and rose through the ranks to LCDR/MSC,serving on numerous ships and duty stations throughout the world. After retiring from the Navy,he assumed the position of Administrative Assis- tant to The Office of Attending Physician, U.S. Capitol. His responsibilities included the medical security of The U.S. Congress, Supreme Court, visiting dignitaries and thou- sands of
tourists.Robert was amentor,career counselor and inspirational advisor to numer- ous people during his Navy and Congressional staff
service.Always looking for new chal- lenges,Robert took up motorcycle touring at the age of 81, even driving his Harley from Florida to D.C. to participate in the Rolling Thunder ceremony to honor POW/MIA. They celebrated the births of five children and enjoyed awonderful marriage of 34 years until Robert's passing on March 7, 1980.
