Continued growth for California theming company
FROM its early conception in central California, US, Daniels Wood Land has grown to become the only shooting gallery manufacturer that is also an accomplished full service theming company. In addition to tree houses, the company
also specialises in the design, fabrication and installation of interactive themed environments for family entertainment centres, theme parks, casinos, restaurants, mini-golf courses, playgrounds and retail stores. “Our products include full scale artificial trees, facades, animated characters, water
features, shooting galleries and more,” said the company’s Andy Dauterman. “Our extensive list of clients includes The Walt Disney
Company, Sony Pictures, Fox Home Entertainment, New Line Cinema, Warner Home Video and The Big Fresno Fair, along with celebrities such as Clint Eastwood, Brooke Burke, NBA star Jason Kidd and Vanessa Williams.”
Q2 profits shrink for CEC
CEC Entertainment has booked a 47 per cent drop in second-quarter earnings, as the parent company of the Chuck E. Cheese FEC chain was hurt by a tax adjustment and the weak restaurant environment. During the period, CEC reported a profit
of US$4.8m, down from $9m a year earlier. The latest quarter included a tax charge of 13 cents a share. Revenue slid 2.1 per cent to $181m. President and chief executive Michael Magusiak
attributed a 2.2 per cent decrease in same-store sales during the quarter to lower discounts in many of CEC’s coupon offers, an economic slowdown in June and very strong box-office receipts for children’s and family movies, which are rivals for customers’ entertainment dollars.
