Imaging is Everything as Canadian Printer Installs Screen Truepress Jet2500UV
some clients wanted to see cleaner text on retail displays than the firm’s 80" UV inkjet printer was producing after six years of constant use, he did not hesitate to act. He replaced the device with a Screen Truepress Jet2500UV. (Screen USA is in Booth 1637.) “Our existing machine was limited in its resolution to 336 dpi,” said Yam- polsky, President of Champion Imag- ing Group in Montreal, Canada. “It was becoming obsolete. The Truepress Jet2500UV delivers higher image qual- ity, faster output and better absolute quality of performance. The difference is like night and day.”
W Established in 1975, the 17-employee
firm spent nearly 20 years as a profes- sional custom photo lab before migrat- ing to wide-format digital printing in 1996. Today, Champion Imaging is one of Canada’s premier producers of wide- format color graphics for the advertis- ing, retail, display and signage indus- tries. Printing specialties range from indoor posters to outdoor banners to Duratran backlit panels. Extraordinary work in photographic and flat printing garnered Champion Imaging preferred supplier status from L’Oreal of Canada. The seed for purchasing the True- press Jet2500UV was planted at an industry trade show Yampolsky attended in 2007, at which Screen (USA) introduced the grand-format UV inkjet printing system. “We saw lots of impressive products at that show,” Yampolsky recalled. “At the time, we were not ready to buy, but Screen was very interested in having us as a customer.”
Once Champion Imaging’s equipment needs changed, Yampolsky returned to the Truepress Jet2500UV. “We researched the equipment from other companies as well,” said Pat Per- rotta, Production Manager. “Before finalizing the decision, our vice presi- dent, Bernard Nadler, and I tested the Truepress at Screen’s headquarters. The two day test involved various files and substrates. The Truepress did everything Screen said it would do in terms of speed and quality.” The Truepress Jet2500UV handles both rigid substrates and roll-to-roll media up to 1.96" thick and 98.4" wide. It features eight-level grayscale printing heads and supports a maximum output resolution of 1,500 dpi. “The Truepress excels at flat-board printing on aluminum, Dibond, acrylics and plexiglass,” Yampolsky noted. “The larger bed size and higher resolution made for a good fit for our needs.” Champion Imaging opted for white

Truepress Jet2500UV in April, and “clients are extremely happy as a result,” Yampolsky said. “It is a fabulous printing system,” he
said. “It does terrific work. Screen has supported us to the ‘N’th degree.”
