Total lifetime costs—primarily pur- chase price, labor, utilities, consumables costs as well as maintenance and repair costs—are comparable with most half- size presses in production today and are below total costs of 8-up 40" models. The RYOBI 920 is competitive with
digital printing on a total production cost per-sheet basis, even at short runs, but also complements digital print platforms.
AI Management Software
Estimator Corporation (Booth 105) is
showcasing print estimating, job entry and work-flow full AI (Artificial Intel- ligent) management software. The cen- trally located Master Control accesses all functions, eliminating traditional confusing search and drop downs. A default system pre-populates the esti- mate with 80% of the starting values most companies use, and does if for sheetfed, web and digital, each with their own parameters. Estimator’s single-screen environ- ment allows the operator to continually view the estimate description and pric- ing for 4 quantities and 4 separate parts, all on different presses with different stocks, colors, and sizes. Automatic re-stripping for oblong books in folio format reconfigures the folding, changing 16-page formats to two parallels and three plates. Allen Datagraph Systems Inc. (Booth 4836) is introducing the iTech AXXIS digital label system, a tabletop label production system. It includes the iTech AXXIS digital label printer and a high-resolution roll-fed CMYK print engine featuring variable-droplet technology.
Printing on a variety of pressure sensi-
tive substrates in widths from 4" to 8.5" with an outside roll diameter up to 11", the system images consumer-quality labels at up to 4 fpm. The iTech AXXIS digital label finisher laminates, inte- grates die-less die cutting, strips, slits, and rewinds to finished rolls of labels.

New features and benefits include: soft proof comparison, which quickly highlights differences between various versions of a page or different pages, advanced fast track which allows com- plete plate production without creating a plan, and soft/hard proof furniture, which is useful for visually confirming that page content is properly positioned especially when dealing with external customers.

Duplo USA Corporation (Booth 2617) is showing its Ultra 200 UV coat- er, which adds a glossy or satin finish to both offset and digitally-printed docu- ments. The process is made possible by the increased gap between the coating roller and the curing UV lamp. User-friendly and with a small foot- print, the Ultra 200 UV also features an automatic cleaning function and fast setup and shutdown. The unit applies ultraviolet coating to documents up to 20x20" in size. There is also an optional high-capacity sheet feeder.
