Large In-Plant Selects EFI Digital StoreFront

FI announced that DLA Doc- ument Services (formerly DAPS), part of the United States Department of Defense

and the Defense Logistics Agency, has selected EFI Digital StoreFront (DSF) as the Web-to-Print platform for its more than 150 locations in the U.S. and abroad. DLA Document Services is replacing its home grown custom solution, which has been in use for 11 years. The contract for the first year is $2.4 million. “DLA Document Services did a thor-

ough evaluation and we’re proud they chose EFI Digital Storefront. This award demonstrates yet again that for any large scale Web-to-Print deployment, there is really just one option on the market and that is Digital StoreFront,” says Marc Olin, Senior Vice President and General Manager of APPS, EFI. “We look for- ward to quickly deploying the system

so DLA’s 1,000 employees can reap the benefits as soon as possible.” Digital StoreFront is designed to deliv- er a branded and customized website to print provider clients for simple job sub- mission, pricelist-based orders, complex specification-based quotes and orders, job, job history, and invoice manage- ment. DSF supports personalized cam- paigns (VDP), file delivery and custom catalogs—helping print providers to build strong, profitable, and long-term relationships with their customers. Digi- tal StoreFront can be hosted by EFI or the print service provider and is avail- able with integration to EFI PrintSmith, EFI Pace, EFI Monarch, and EFI Radius print MIS solutions.

Print and e-commerce industry con- sultant Jennifer Matt was a key partner to EFI on this project, and she is expected to be integral to the deployment phase.

Burgess, NPES and GASC Chairman, and, Keith Kemp, NAPL Chairman.

An information-packed lunch and learn free session for in-plant printers, “In- tegrated Marketing —The Next Step for In-Plants,” featured ‘in-the-trenches’ success stories by in-plants from several industry segments that have incorpo- rated integrated marketing components such as transpromo, VDP, PURLs, and quick response codes to minimize costs and maximize profits.

n a Tuesday afternoon seminar, Chris Giles, VP Solutions and Competitive Marketing for Pitney Bowes, pointed out that 75% of the jobs printers typically pro- duce end up in the mailstream at some point. “You need to ask your customer how that piece is ultimately going to be used,” he urged. Wheth- er printers bring mailing in- house or act as the go-between to deliver the job to a mail house, capturing the job from beginning to end reinforces customer loyalty. Gary
