13.4x11.8", with programmable memo- ry for up to 200 different jobs, allowing instant recall of frequently-run jobs. Pre- cision stepper motors position all guides and clamps to insure professional quality cutting at speeds up to 1,000 cycles per hour. A servo-motor controlled jogging mechanism helps provide accurate book registration. The swing knife movement ensures sharp and accurate trims to pro- duce a clean finished book, and a silicon spray unit is available to keep the knife clean during operation. The HT-80 Trimmer is compatible with Horizon’s pXnet bindery manage- ment system, which delivers bindery work planning, faster and more accurate makereadies, visibility into work-in-pro- cess, and capturing production statistics to help calculate real job costs.
Spiel Associates (Booth 3044) is
exhibiting the Sterling Coilmaster III plastic coil binding system. It creates plastic coil from plastic filament, auto- matically inserting it into the book from the first hole onwards and then auto- matically cutting and crimping. This machine eliminates the need to store plastic coil. The cost savings of producing 12" lengths of coil from fila- ment is more than 50%.
The Coilmaster III incorporates the latest advances in automatic plastic coil binding, including an angled roller for speedy jam free binding, a spreading device that allows for any size margin, and the ability to bind books with any pitch with round or oval holes. The Coilmaster III delivers the capability of binding books up to 40 mm in diameter at speeds of up to 700 books per hour.
