The shop window
As IFSA members meet up in Long Beach, it is good to know that our two Associations are once again discussing the possibilities of forming a closer partnership. We
look forward to hearing the findings of the exploratory task force in due course. Meanwhile, sales of exhibition stands at ITCA Nice 2011 have taken off in a big
way and the new format of the networking event and the Mercurys looks set for success. (See
www.itcanet.com/mercurys for entry details). And good news for suppliers. The amenity bag is here to stay in spite of these
tough times. In our feature on Amenities in this issue we speak to airlines and suppliers who see the humble bag as a valuable and important first impression that can define the profile of an airline, as well as being a long-lasting reminder. Amenity bags can also act as the launch pad for a new cosmetic brand, as a deal with a major carrier is an immediate placement in an international shop window. On the ‘green’ front we continue with our Garbage focus with a report from a company that has designed a tool to measure an airline’s footprint and suggest where savings can and should be made. These include a look across the entire spectrum of onboard equipment, packaging and disposables. Are you keeping check of your carbon footprint? Sue and I look forward to meeting up with readers in Long Beach, California.
