Volcanic concept
Silversea’s Silver Spirit has introduced an innovative new dining concept which saves space as well as giving guests a hand in the cooking of their own food. The Black Rock Grill (BRG) system uses individual
lava rocks which act as hot plates, heated in a central oven and then delivered to the table with the meat, allowing guests to control how much their steak is cooked and keep their food warm. Silversea’s culinary director Rudi Scholdis commented on the cruise line’s reasons for choosing the product: “We are targeting young, high end clientele, frequent travellers looking for innovative experiences. BRG is easy to prep and easy to serve. We now have just two chefs who deal with everything and they can offer a BRG menu with nine grill specialities. It brings theatre and fun to the restaurant. The interactive cooking provides a casual al fresco ambience.”
