STYC Golf Handicap Racing Series

Introducing STYC / Ullman Sails

“Take Your Time Friday’s,” Golf Handicap Racing Fleet (GHRF). A series of laid back races on Shilshole Bay every Friday evening during the months of June, July, and September. Also, following the last race of each monthly series, there will be a party at Shilshole Bay Marina’s new patio facility adjacent to the main building. Participation is free to all, the only catch is you must be willing to have fun, get the course and start times online, record and email in your finish times, and be willing to have your GHRF rating adjusted on a weekly basis. Here’s how this will work; Go to the

STYC web site: STYC.org, by Wednesday before the first race of each series and register, providing all requested information. Then return to the site on Friday after 1:00 pm. The day’s course and start times will be posted for that day’s race. The start line is between the North hamburger buoy and a white painted rock near the Northend of the marina Breakwater. Since there will be no committee boat present, start and finish times will use GPS times. We ask that you be as honest as you can. If you’re over early no one is going to protest you, just turn around and clear yourself on the line. No yelling, protests, or aggressive racing. Good, clean fun, and safety are the two main objectives. If you don’t have a PHRF rating tell

us what kind of boat you have, what the sails are like (condition and size i.e. 140% gen...), if you live aboard, etc... and we’ll come up with a rating for you. Now check back in on Friday after 1:00 pm to find your course and start time for that night. As you are finishing the race, record your GPS finish time and post it on the styc.org website. Now, the next week, check back

again for your course, start time and your corrected GHRF rating. Boats that win will have their rating knocked; boats that lose will have their ratings improved. Take Your Time Friday’s, GHRF
