Shilshole Bay Marina Open House Weekend and Swap Meet June 5-6
The merchants from Shilshole Bay
Marina, along with the Port of Seattle, have banded together to create an Open House weekend to benefit the Leukemia Cup Regatta (
www.leukemiacup.org/wa) which takes place the following weekend on Saturday, June 12. There will be something for boaters
and non-boaters alike at the Open House. For non-boaters, a feature will be two hour boat rides on an historic 1934 65’ schooner. For boaters, there’s a swap meet – a great opportunity to sell old or unneeded nautical gear and search for bargains and needed gear. The Orion is a gorgeous 1934, 65-foot
schooner with a storied past. Built for the commodore of the New York Yacht Club she won the legendary Newport to Bermuda Yacht Race on one of her first voyages. Skipper Kevin Campion and Windworks Sailing Center have donated her for the weekend and will be offering 2-hour cruises on Puget Sound. She can take 25 people at a time on the cruises
and they are welcome to help hoist the sails, take the helm or just kick back and enjoy the ride. Suggested donation: a mere $10.
Sail For A Cure Boat Rides
One hour sailboat rides on Puget
Sound every half hour all weekend. 30- 45 foot yachts, courtesy of Windworks Sailing Center and Seattle Sailing Club. First come, first served. Suggested donation $10.
