South Sound Sailing Society LifeSling Clinic June 5

The LifeSling, combined with the

Quickstop method of stopping the boat, is recognized as the best way for a shorthanded crew to get an overboard person not only back to the boat, but also safely onto the deck. Unfortunately, the LifeSling is not self-explanatory and simply reading the instructions on the bag will not give you the skills and confidence to use it properly. This year’s clinic will be at 0900.

We will begin with about two hours of classroom instruction. You will then get to put your new skills to work with dockside drills. Each boat has its own unique challenges on how to set up and use the hoisting tackle so it is especially helpful to learn how to use the LifeSling on your own boat or one you crew on. Please bring a life jacket, lunch and

basic sailing skills. Space is limited so advance registration is requested. Call Dee or Andy Saller at (360) 491-0175.

Support local and regional programs for children and young adults through the charitable donation of your boat. The Pacific Marine foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization funding regional programs such as Northwest Youth Services, Sea Scouts, Boys & Girls Clubs, and local public school education foundations. A substantial tax savings and the possibility of a partial cash sale makes a charitable donation a very attractive alternative for any owner who is considering selling their power or sailing yacht.
