In the UK, VisitBritain has been quick to embrace mobiEXPLORE as the mobile pla�orm of
choice. The aim is to encourage more users to visit Britain and provide them valuable insight
that will enhance their experience. MobiEXPLORE was selected because it is easy to navigate

While the mobiEXPLORE pla�orm has been well received and experienced significant success,
the applica�on is flexible enough to be used for than just a country guide. With more than
eight years experience in implemen�ng new technologies for the travel industry, Gideon has
adapted the mobiEXPLORE pla�orm to provide numerous opportuni�es for various players
in the travel industry, from hotels to tour operators and airlines. The mobile pla�orm allows
them to communicate more effec�vely with their target audience and increase revenue from
their basic ac�vi�es while simultaneously establishing addi�onal revenue sources.

ReisPlanner Xtra is the first mobile widget able to display context-
aware travel informa�on
Today, as mobile technology becomes pervasive, public transport operators are no longer
focusing exclusively on the physical transfer of passengers from point A to point B. They
are striving to provide a complete transporta�on experience, including real-�me access to
travel-related informa�on. The mobile device becomes an extension of the travel experience,
where travel informa�on is at the heart of mobile service. A detailed understanding of the
user situa�on - also known as context - allows Reisplanner Xtra to offer the right informa�on
to the right user, at the right �me and at the right place.
Reisplanner Xtra is a unique mobile travel applica�on. It uses current loca�on informa�on
(from GPS or cell ID) to automa�cally determine the nearest sta�on. It offers customised
services based on user context, records favourite journeys, preferred or recently visited
sta�ons, displays informa�on regarding the sta�on and local points of interest, and can
even let you share your travel plans with friends and family. Reisplanner Xtra also monitors
possible changes to your planned journey and alerts you to these changes by SMS.
In the future, what will you do when your train is 15 minute late? Use your mobile device to
check the services available in that sta�on, perhaps download the latest news report or your
favourite magazine, courtesy of the train operator, while your calendar automa�cally sends
an update to the person you are supposed to meet, based on real-�me traffic informa�on.
Upon arrival at your des�na�on, your device will automa�cally request a map of the area to
quickly find the loca�on of your next mee�ng.”
