Understanding Poinng

The poinng system requires a device to be able to determine locaon (GPS) and direcon
(compass).
When the user points the device, the vector informaon (determined by knowing the posion
of the phone and the direcon in which is it being pointed) idenfies the targeted object or
objects in a database. The object database is in internal memory and can be updated as
needed when interfacing with a server using the IP network to communicate.
The GeoVector soware, which uses the posion and direcon data to create the vector
which intersects objects in a database, is referred to as GViD™. GViD holds a basic set of
informaon each object: the name, posion and category. This allows the applicaon to sort
results by category and show the direcon and distance to the object. If the user requires
addional informaon about the object, the applicaon accesses that data from the internal
database or launches a web browser and retrieves the addional informaon specific to that
object from appropriate Internet sources.

The adversing in poinng applicaons is unobtrusive as it is driven by the user poinng
at an object and asking for more informaon. It’s the mobile and localised equivalent of
opening the yellow pages. The user is not randomly interrupted by useless informaon but is
provided with the informaon he needs just when he requests it.
The user, who has demonstrated both interest and proximity, is a very highly qualified
prospect. He/She will regard offers presented at this me as a convenience, rather than an
annoyance, and will be more inclined to take advantage of them.
