South Gloucestershire Region "Success Story" The South West

Working with a variety of businesses including high-growth potential, scale-up SMEs and entrepreneurs, we encourage and facilitate collaboration between small and large businesses, including the University of the West of England (UWE) and public sector partners, to help develop the innovation in South Gloucestershire.

The council co-purchased the Bristol & Bath Science Park (BBSP) with the University of Bath and works closely with SME tenants based there and also support a series of structured interventions to allow tenants to further access local and regional innovation support. The council actively facilitates interaction and dialogue between BBSP and UWE Enterprise Zone: Future Space, Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) and Health Tech Hub. As a result of these relationships, South Gloucestershire is recognised for its innovation and creativity.

Enterprise Areas:

The enterprise areas are important employment locations across the West of England and offer unprecedented potential for investment.

Bristol and Bath Science Park Locate & Invest:

The Bristol and Bath Science Park is located in South Gloucestershire and is a world class environment for businesses in science and advanced technology, which incorporates the National Composite Centre and is a national leader on research and design. We are also a centre of excellence for green and environmental technologies, animation and IT solutions.

Open for innovation:

South Gloucestershire Council’s ‘Innovate to Grow’ campaign focuses on encouraging small to medium enterprises to develop new ideas and deliver creative solutions that contribute to South Gloucestershire’s economy in creating both, sustainable jobs and generating local wealth. In some cases these could have a global impact too.
