takes of Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) traveling through time in the DeLorean. Ed was permitted to explore the DeLorean vehicle to take

measurements and photos of its interior. Slated for Universal’s next ride installation was a Back to the Future simulator, and there were more than 20 different anticipated pieces of foam safety padding required. Approaching the dinner hour, Ed was given an office to use to crunch numbers and formulate pricing for custom molds and production parts. The pieces Ed needed to consider for the Universal project had multiple colors; required themed features that simulated the inside of the DeLorean, circuit panels, wires, hoses and tubes; and all needed to be made from foam safety padding. After spending the day preparing a formal proposal for Universal’s review, Ed took the red-eye flight home and the very next day, the company learned they had been awarded the project. The Universal job was the first requiring this level of ingenuity, imagination and resourcefulness, and paved the way for the Ralph S. Alberts Company of today. Seth Alberts commented: “As a third-generation owner,

I am proud to carry on our family’s tradition and create avenues of future growth and success in the amusement industry. More importantly, I am honored to embrace those same traditions with all of our employees who make that future possible.”

Success Story With 97 employees working in a large, modern 75,000 square foot facility, Ralph S. Alberts Company has now enjoyed more than 53 years in business. The company thrives on facing the demands of design and extreme theming for amusement rides. As rides continue to grow bigger, travel faster and become more unique, the designs, colors and dynamics associated with ride safety padding continue to become more challenging to create in parallel; however, Ralph S. Alberts has finely honed their ability to achieve what may seem ‘impossible.’ About 60% of their amusement- related fiberglass tooling and flexible foam is provided directly to amusement parks and the remaining 40% is provided to OEMs. Melissa Timco, director of operations and sales, said

that that one of the reasons for the success of Ralph S. Alberts is that, “we understand the importance of the safety padding we supply to the amusement industry, protecting our customer’s most valuable asset, their guests. Though our strong safety obligation begins with our organization’s executives, it is carried out by the collective behaviors of our dedicated employees; devoted to providing a reliable product.”

What’s Next? The Ralph S. Alberts Company quite naturally hopes to continue to build their success, planning to bring outside services in-house to achieve the ultimate goal of becoming a one-stop-shop. The company is also looking forward to exploring the addition of operating facilities in the southeastern US and Europe, allowing them to better serve their customers and open new avenues of growth.
