BRANDS
asking the same question about the size, length, or capacity of something. I’ll write that we need to improve the description. That’s easily done. ‘Iteration’ is the keyword here. Even if it is a physical change to a product, we make in small numbers, frequently. It means that if we find that, ‘you know what, now we’ve made 100 of these, we really do need to tweak this’, we just tweak that. Note the change. Update master source for product information.
It’s possible to sit here and say it’s easy, but (and it’s a very big but) there’s also a business mindset at play. There are people within the business who’ve thought about how to map a process. It’s clearly not just a ‘look there’s a trend - a repeat request’ thought. You’re proactively looking for them. Add to that, you’ve also mapped out what you’ll do with them as you find them. Lots will talk about it, but very few do it, and even fewer do it really well.

CW: I’m new to the business this year so with fresh eyes I can say it’s been quite impressive. When I came to the interview and came to look around, it was clear that there were systems in place. I’ve worked for bigger brands that don’t have the same level of systems in place.
I feel like I know a lot more about what’s going on from a sales point of view, which makes my job a lot easier but equally, I’m involved in or know about every phase of the product development.
So what you’ve described is having a start-up mentality, where a job title isn’t a tightly defined, limiting thing, but equally you have systems in place which are more in line with being a more advanced mid-stage business. CW: Exactly. For a 14-year-old business. There’s lots that take advantage of having a start-up mindset, but also blending that with experience and capabilities from an established much bigger one. It’s a really nice convergence of the two. ●
