TNA solutions: Feeding ambitions

Visitors of ProSweets 2024 can explore how TNA can serve as a complete solutions partner, providing end-to-end expertise for confectionery production goals

T

NA creates and integrates complete processing and packaging solutions for confectionery manufacturers that include everything from kitchen operations, starch

conditioning, mogul tray handling, de- moulding, product cleaning and finishing, to depositing, distribution, packaging, and case packing. TNA employs a consultative and collaborative approach to set up the entire line, managing the project from conception to completion, and providing full aftermarket support. TNA offers solutions that are designed to measure, blend and prepare ingredients to exacting standards for the perfect recipe each time. From small laboratory kitchens to full- scale production runs, TNA’s customer-centric focus ensures every element is customised to the specific requirements of the producer. The TNA mogul, for instance, is a high-

performance starch mogul designed to mould a variety of confectionery products, including gummies, jellies, marshmallows, fondant cremes, centre-in-shell, nutraceuticals and liquorice. The system accommodates production rates ranging from 500 kg/h to 5,500 kg/h, allowing confectionery manufacturers to effectively adapt to market demands. Mogul technology is most valued for its versatility in producing a wide range of products. It allows manufacturers to efficiently meet the growing consumer demand for sensory indulgence and experimentations, while providing them with an option to handle multiple products on the same line. In addition, to address the growing concerns

over labour shortages and rising resource costs by enhancing production efficiencies, the tna robag® 3e and the tna auto-splice 3 systems

create a synergistic ‘Perfect Pair’ solution that significantly boosts uptime. Expertly designed for seamless cohesion with the tna robag® 3e, the tna auto-splice 3 is a unique solution that splices packaging film automatically, with no downtime or interruption to the packaging process due to manual splicing and replacing rolls. For a typical 7-hour shift operation with 3 shifts per day, bagging at the speed of 140 bags per minute, the system can generate an additional 3.5 million bags over one year. This reduces machine downtime by 385 hours per year, corresponding to an overall equipment efficiency gain of over 5%. Furthermore, the tna ropac® 5 is the world’s fastest case-packing system for flexible bags, capable of handling up to 220 bags per minute. Designed with TNA’s patented semi-rotary bag stacking technology, the system specifically caters to the packaging needs of small-to- medium, pillow-style bags. Its tool-less changeovers and compact design are highly valued by confectionery manufacturers, as it allows for seamless integration into production lines and ensures optimal performance in packaging operations.

In 2023, TNA solutions opened a second manufacturing facility in Wetherill Park, Sydney, reinforcing its commitment to meeting global demand in the confectionery and nutraceuticals sectors and to provide complete solutions with short lead times. TNA offers comprehensive project management and aftermarket services through its global network across 30 countries, ensuring uninterrupted supply and customer support. In addition to the usual quality characteristics like "gluten or lactose-free, keto-friendly or kosher", a CO2 statement will also influence the customers' purchasing decisions in future. In this way, technologies will be tested using secondary materials that are locally available, which can hugely reduce the CO2 footprint and expand the diversity of the product offers. In cooperation with Haute Innovation from Berlin, ProSweets Cologne will present sustainable snack innovations from all over the globe on the special "Collaboration X InGREENients" exhibition zone. The focus is primarily on the sustainability aspect and the use of unusual ingredients for small in- between nibbles.
