THE BMF WROTE to the Chancellor of the Exchequer in National Apprenticeship Week last month, ahead of his Spring Statement to Parliament to lobby for more flexibility in the rules governing the Apprenticeship Levy. In its letter, the BMF urged Mr Hammond to use his Spring Statement to prepare for life after Brexit - and counteract predicted falls in employment levels and regional productivity. John Newcomb, BMF Chief Executive, said, “The BMF has been involved in the Apprenticeship Levy since his predecessor George Osborne announced it in his July 2015 Budget.
