T
o be successful in the building market, kitchen manufacturers have to get many elements right including expert knowledge, reliable supply and a competitive pricing structure: without a user- friendly, tailored service you will not be able to meet developer specific needs and first and foremost, this comes down to applicable training.
State-of-the-art techniques, traditional brand values and investment in continued R&D are at an all time high, seeing new processes and technologies come to the fore and completely revolutionize how the contract kitchen market is approaching kitchen design and so as a merchant, it is important you’re able to keep pace.
Infact, to further assit the progression and advancements within kitchen design sectors, we have given our support to The Kitchen Education Trust (TKET): a registered charity that provides a link between the kitchen industry and education. This effort follows the successful submission by FIESTA [Furniture Industry Education and Skills Training Alliance], which has led to IFA [Institute for Apprenticeships] approving new Level 3 apprenticeship standards for Fitted Furniture Design. Helping to ‘provide a clear path into the

kitchen industry’, this announcement marks an important step for a qualification that sits just under the Level 4 & 5 FDA Foundation Degree in Kitchen Design, currently offered.
Integrity and Competence Our main aim for pledging our support to TKET is to help propel the kitchen industry into a true ‘profession of the highest integrity and competence’. We all know that kitchens are a multi-million pound global industry. It is therefore imperative for you to be able to maximise your share of that industry with a highly skilled and knowledgeable workforce able to understand your clients needs, design trends and technological developments.
Skills shortages are putting significant pressure on the kitchen industry and TKET is successfully helping to maintain a high level of student enrolment and thus, market enrichment from the next generation of kitchen designers that will ultimately help to shape our future. It is vital for our industry to work together and encourage fresh thinking that offers a new perspective and/or approach to kitchen design in general. We want our furniture to be ‘defined by difference’ so retailers and specifiers of Rotpunkt kitchens have the power of possibilities. This
can only happen if we protect the entry level phase of our industry and the education of
succeeding generations.
Ultimately, it’s about delivering a good service from first consultation through to design and final fit and I find transparency in product and service is key for us.
By specialising in one niche area, which in our case is quality kitchen furniture, our merchants are able to move away from offering just a ‘standard’ product to deliver something extra special.
