DREAM DINNER GUESTS

Sarah Cressall, founder and managing director of The Creation Station

ALBERT EINSTEIN

How did you start out in business? I developed my business and creative skills over 23 years, but when I became a mum I spotted a niche in the market for fun and educational creative activities. So in 2002, with three boys under four, The Creation Station was born out of a passion to make a difference.

LEONARDO DA VINCI

What prompted the decision to expand through the franchise model? I wanted to ensure the business was a force for good and could help people. I spent the next fi ve years developing all the systems. Now, we have a family of over 100 franchise owners and we inspire over 16,000 kids and adults each week across the UK.

JULIE WALTERS

What is your career highlight? Celebrating 75,000 kids’ birthdays! Also when my book, Creative Sparks, shot to number one in its category on Amazon.

What does the future hold for The Creation Station? It’s looking sparkly! We are bringing more tech into our workshops and bringing the arts into STEM.

Who is your “bestie” in franchising? My husband, Duncan, and my kids, who gave me the idea – they’re still involved

with the business. Plus, my sister Fran, who created my fi rst website and helped with all techy stuff, which is totally beyond me!

Which football team, if any, do you follow?

I’m from Bootle in Liverpool, and yes, I’m a red!

How do you relax?

I run along the beach in Exmouth most mornings and cycle to work along the estuary. It makes me remember how fortunate I am to do what I love and love what I do.

Who would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, John Lennon, my grandparents and their parents.

Who’d play you in the fi lm of your life? She’s a bit older, but I do love Julie Walters.

How would you like to be remembered? As someone who was kind, good fun and always inspired people to dream big and make the most of life!
