Care franchises Home Instead

Leena Lahani is a ualified solicitor with a secialism in ducation Law. n  she oened ome nstead Wemble and since then has built a successful home care business.

Why the move into care franchising and why with Home Instead? I read an article in the Sunday Times about a Home Instead owner who had started an office and was finding it hugely rewarding. Making a difference in my local community, networking, and supporting elderly people while running a successful business was what attracted me. I had considered other franchises, like fast- food restaurants, but they weren’t for me. It was important for me to choose a brand with

huge growth potential. We’re increasingly seeing the home as the ideal place to receive care and medical assistance. Live-in Care, Healthcare at Home and Nail Care are thriving additions to Home Instead’s services over the past few years, so it’s safe to say that I made the right choice.

What prompted this decision? I very much enjoyed my career in law, but when I had children it proved difficult managing parenthood, the demands of a legal career and a long commute. Setting up a local business gave me the change I needed and when the business and team had grown, I could see that it could provide me with access to a better balance of work and home. Given that I was keen to continue with a role that involved helping people in the community, the care sector was ideal. I contacted Home Instead and to my surprise my territory, Wembley, was for sale. It instantly felt it was meant to be.

What drew you to working in a care and health-related industry? Both of my parents passed away when I was only 24. I know what it’s like to see a parent fall seriously ill and I’d like to help people at what can be an emotional

and challenging time for families. I’m very proud to give people in the later stages of life the dignity they deserve.

What are your plans for the future? Continue running a successful franchise and building an incredible team. We want to play a significant part in keeping people out of hospital and at home, where they are happiest, alleviating pressure on the NHS. The demand is high for home care and is only going to get higher and Home Instead is at the forefront of meeting that demand providing a service which makes such a difference.
