“To solidify the future of the
franchising industry, we must continue to open doors to everyone”
E
ducation is one of the pillars of the British Franchise Association (bfa). Not only
for prospective franchisees and franchisors who are searching for the right information and due diligence processes, but also for the next generation of entrepreneurs – who will be the future of franchising – and for industry professionals who are looking to continue their professional development. We hope to assist everyone in their franchise journey and provide the resources and guidance to those who need it.
The Leaders of Tomorrow Throughout 2019, the bfa has
worked on numerous projects with the purpose to build additional educational outlets for people hoping to better understand franchising. This includes a collaboration with Online TV Media in the production of a short video titled ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’, which saw me and Suki Dehal of Lloyds Bank explore the diversity of the high-street franchises, as well as outlining what it means to be in franchising today. The video was made for the purpose of spiking interest in the younger generation, who are increasingly showing entrepreneurial traits and goals. The 2018 bfa NatWest Franchise Survey revealed the number of franchisees under 30 has grown in recent years, with 18 per cent of all franchisees in the UK fitting into this bracket. We will be rolling out a PR campaign in support of the video targeting publications and websites that explore entrepreneurship among young people. We will also engage with the younger demographic on Instagram through paid advertising. It is important for everyone to
receive the right information when looking into franchise business ownership, and with this video, we hope to inspire and educate the future of franchising.
