After turning 40, Nikesh Karia was ready for a new challenge. The answer was Right at Home

ight at Home franchisee Nikesh Karia stopped to reassess his ‘perfect life’ when he turned 40
in 2017. He had a wonderful family and a career that offered experiences others could only dream of. “But something was missing,” Nikesh
says. “I didn’t have a sense of making a difference to anyone’s life. And I was away more than I wanted to be.” Having worked in fast-paced corporate roles, Nikesh was ready for something more fulfi lling, so he started to think about what he stood for, he says: “My wife and I come from large, close families, so we understand the importance of relationships and support in life’s later years. We liked the homecare sector, but having personally experienced the difference quality care makes, fi nding the right brand was crucial for us.” Nikesh researched his options and
attended the British Franchise Association- affi liated franchise exhibitions, where he met the team from Right at Home. “I really felt we connected with their ethos and with what they want to accomplish in the industry. People deserve the right to high-quality, dignifi ed care, and Right at Home are fully focused on treating people the right way.” Two months after turning 40, Nikesh opened Right at Home Barnet and Edgware. He says that support from the national offi ce has been "excellent – they really are experts in their fi eld. I joined them for an orientation day in January, and knew I was making the right decision.” After breaking even within six months,
Nikesh’s business has doubled in size throughout 2018. He concludes: “There have been challenges, as there are with any new business. But the business is what I hoped

for. I have the work-life balance I need, and Kala and I feel blessed to be in a position to provide quality homecare in the community where I grew up.” l
