The Peaceful Pill eHandbook Sources of Sodium Nitrite
Sodium nitrite is widely-used for food-curing and food- preserving and is subject to few restrictions. It has been variously available on-line from Amazon, eBay or Alibaba. There are no safety issues for transport. See: https://www.amazon.com/Sodium-Nitrite-Powder-Ounces-99-6/dp/B00M1OADSW
Cost is minimal with chemical suppliers offering the product for as little as US$15/ Kgm.
Note: In mid 2019 measures taken by the Dutch government led to some restriction in sale of nitrite to individuals. Initially this effected only European suppliers, but this trend to restrict sale has spread as the use of nitrite as an effective suicide agent has grown.
Testing of Sodium Nitrite
It mat be necessary to ensure that the purchased nitrite is pure (ie. > 99% nitrite) A video of the simple nitrite purity test has been made to explain the testing process in detail.
Testing Procedure: You will need for testing
• 5gm of sodium nitrite • Exit nitrite test kit (digital scales, a 2ml disposable pipette, dipstick nitrite test strips & colour chart) • 2 x one litre bottles of distilled water
Accurately weigh out 5gm of the salt that is to be tested. Then, from a one litre bottle of distilled water, pour out 10 - 20 ml into a separate container. Stir the salt in this distilled water for a few minutes until dissolved.
