Create a right angle with the wire that points out from the back of the feather shape.

Create a curve in the wire using your thumb on the back side of the feather.

The feather is now ready to be mounted on a base.

Be generous when you cut the wire to ensure you have enough to bend and secure the feather in place.
Mark the position where the wire will go through the base.

Create a hole in the material with an awl or bodkin.

Thread the wire through the hole in the base.

Bend the excess wire to follow the base shape.

Create a gentle U-turn in the wire to ensure it is secured to the shape and will not move side to side.

Pin the wire into place. This is done from the top, so it doesn’t damage the curve of the base.

Thread a needle with a double thread that matches the colour of the base and pull the thread through the wax.
