In September each year, the festival Mut zum Hut in Bavaria brings people together over three days with a display of hats, jewellery and fashion. This year’s edition, now back at its previous location at the castle in Neuburg an der Donau, featured over 80 exhibitors with an array of headwear, haute couture, accessories, designer jewellery and wearable works of art. There was a touch of a royal occasion at


the hat show this year as milliners were tasked with creating a headpiece suitable for Ascot. At the fashion show on the Saturday, first prize was awarded to Hutdesign Löbering Hamburg and on the Sunday to Britt Anthoni Design Friedrichshafen.


Mut zum Hut founder Ute Patel- Missfeldt, who was celebrating her farewell after 24 years of the event, received a standing ovation at the special fashion show featuring her creations. The organisers said they were particularly pleased this year about the growing number of Dutch hat makers and the generosity of the visitors, one of whom bought 14 hats. The next Mut zum Hut will take


place from 13th to 15th September 2024, with the theme of fantasy.

people, Ute and Isabel Patel – with the help of a team of enthusiastic volunteers and loyal, annually returning exhibitors, of course
