Layer Court Naming


The performance court in Curry Arena was named in honor of former Queens men’s basketball head coach and athletic director Dale Layer, who was instrumental in bringing the first males to the previously all-female campus. In addition, he helped to establish the foundation for Queens Athletics in the NCAA.


Division I Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Announcement


At the Levine Center on May 10, 2022, members of the ASUN team, including Commissioner Ted Gumbart, formally welcomed the Royals into the conference.


Established in November 2022, the Royals Club is a membership group of supporters providing the driving force behind Queens Athletics and our continued success at the NCAA Division I level.


Membership giſts provide essential, unrestricted funding in support of our entire student-athlete population, while they build a foundation at Queens to become leaders and difference-makers around the globe. Every giſt makes an incredible impact on our student-athletes, coaches, and their programs.


Royals Club funds help enhance the holistic student-athlete experience at Queens by elevating key areas such as mental health, nutrition, leadership development, strength and conditioning, and performance technology.


Membership levels are from $100 to $10,000 and include benefits that vary at all levels. There are currently 117 Royals Club members and counting.


Hannah Aspden Day


On Oct. 1, 2021, Queens celebrated Hannah Aspden ’22, Team USA swimmer, aſter winning two gold medals at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Men’s Basketball Wins vs. Marshall, 83-82


In their first game at the Division I level, the men’s basketball team won 83–82 against Marshall on Nov. 7, 2022, at the Levine Center.


Queens has a rich history of building champions in the classroom, in competition, in our community and around the globe. Our current Royals are writing new chapters in this history every day. Alumni are encouraged to be a part of the story by joining the Royals Club.
