In addition to the ladders, railings are an important enhancement to any 1:350-scale model. Curves and circles are a special challenge because of the “spring- back” of the material. I have found the Multi-Tool from Mission Tools to be invaluable for such pur- poses. (Figure 18) It took a lot of eff ort but, eventu- ally, I ended up with a nice circle and attached it to its airbrushed base. T e fi nal step was to touch up
the paint with an Artetje 100/0 Micro Paint Brush. (Figure 19)
Straight railings are quite a bit easier than curved ones. I use dividers to determine the locations of the stanchions and cut the lengths of each segment re- quired. Tamiya bending tools allow me to make all corner bends without fi xtures. (Figures 20 to 22)
