202 Since my objective was to create a convincing diorama and portray Swan in as authentic a manner as I


could, I knew that making realistic set sails—as well as reproducing that interesting stuff that comprises seventy-two-percent of the earth’s surface—would be a challenge to my model making abilities. T e next installment of this article will explain my techniques for making laminated paper sails and the materials and techniques I used to create the diorama’s North Atlantic ocean setting and its display base.
