Because this deck overhung the enclosures below, some of the joists and support beams needed to be added to the outside ceiling surfaces. Photo 341 shows the aſt section overhang with the support beams for the ceiling joists being measured for trimming. As I had promised myself, I modifi ed my previous method for installing the pillars in this section. Photo 342 shows the paper camber jig in use to align the pillars using the vertical lines. T e length of each pillar was predetermined by the height of the structures already in place below. Each pillar required a footing (Photo 343) that I built using my lathe. Once the pillars were in place, I used tape to stop these footings falling off while the deck was being put in place. Once it was in place I removed the tape, allowing the footings to slide
