331. Frames for both sides were cast.
334. T e deck/ceiling of the turtle deck was canvassed but in this no seams were required.
332. T e glazing was slid into position.
335. Locators were included on the inside of the deck/ceiling to help position the deck when fi xing it onto the framing.
(ceiling) was painted green like the prototype. Locators, seen in Photo 335, were needed to align the deck/ceiling during the gluing phase. Once the deck had been located on the model, maintenance platforms for the walking beam were built in brass and added. (Photo 336) T e white brace serves as a jig. Also note the green edging that surrounds the opening. Photo 337 shows the fi nished turtle deck set in place and also one last detail, half-round styrene painted green, lining its edge.
333. Wiring for the LEDs was run into the supply closet.
T e deck/ceiling was cut from simulated tongue- and-groove styrene sheet. T e exterior surface was canvas covered but, since this was done in one piece, no seams were visible. (Photo 334) T e under surface
Before the deck/ceiling could be added, the third deck needed to be fi tted and set in place since it needed to thread over the turtle deck. Photo 338 shows the template for the deck used to perfect the shape required. As for the previous decks the LED’s circuitry needed to be set between two styrene layers. Photo 339 shows this circuit. T e jig in Photo 340 set the camber of the composite deck.
