5 CELEBRATE Cheers to Bordeaux

Bordeaux Fête le Vin will return to the city this summer

Bordeaux Fête le Vin returns in June, and thanks to the resounding success of its 2022 edition it will now come back every year instead of biannually. The DNA of the festival is to be accessible, open, responsible and committed. Just like last year, impressive tall ships will drop their mooring lines alongside the promenade on the mighty Garonne, with wine growers, professionals, artisanal producers, cultural sites, restaurants, and cellars all joining in the festive spirit. This winning combination of wine and music sees the famous promenade turn into a veritable wine route, with the chance to appreciate the diversity of the region’s wines and rich heritage.  June 22–25 www.bordeaux-wine-festival.com

VIVE LA FRANCE!

The celebrations on July 14 feature a military parade from the Arc de Triomphe to Place de la Concorde via the Champs-Élysées in Paris, with ceremonies also held in various towns across the country to mark France’s national day. As daylight fades, most towns light up with fireworks accompanied by dancing and music, notably the famed firehouse balls, bals des pompiers, with some events even starting the night before, depending on location.  www.elysee.fr
