“I remember we did a lot of work for Totally Wicked in Blackburn at the time and they said we’ve got offices in Blackburn come and use them for free. It was then we realised we must have something good here with people wanting to help us get back on our feet.
“It was a big setback but it was really humbling just to see the support that we had from clients and other production companies.”
Bigtank moved into their new offices on Cuba Industrial Estate in Ramsbottom in October 2024 and one of the big improvements has been the creation of a studio for podcasts and interviews with businesses.
He says: “It has been great for us.
those humble beginnings, and you can see customers are key to Bigtank.
Today, Bigtank has a growing portfolio of customers, and the company has been helping a number of different businesses on projects that add commercial value.
Rob says “We work with a wide range of clients from Blackpool Better Start and the NSPCC, highlighting vital work to improve peoples lives, through to working with local power-houses like VEKA and GA Petfood Partners helping them engage and motivate their teams.
“We also do a lot of work around healthcare and mental health awareness which has to be handled in a really sensitive way.
“It is about getting people to stop and think and then act in a certain way, not just seeing content and giving it a thumbs up.
“Rob says the business is driven by listening to customers and developing campaigns for all budgets to get the right messages across.
“We also worked with Blackburn with Darwen Council and Sport England recently on a campaign called We Are Undefeatable,” he says.
“There were 16 films in total and it was showcasing stories of people who were coping with life limiting illnesses and were using movement to get joy into their life.
“The films have been getting national awareness and it was powerful stuff. We created something that was meaningful.”
In 20 years, the business has overcome a rollercoaster of challenges including COVID and the Boxing Day Floods in Rawtenstall in
Rob Hallam and the Bigtank team
2015 but it has stood the test of time and is going strong.
Rob says: “During the floods everything was underwater and I remember feeling really ill seeing all this electronic kit and cameras in the water.
“We thought, the business is gone. But we had clients and competitors getting in touch saying whatever kit you need, we will help.
“What the studio has done is provided local businesses with a great looking, professional space where they can come in and record great looking and sounding podcasts for literally hundreds of pounds, without the need to go to a high-end studio in Manchester.
“And of course, it’s a great way for customers to experience how we do things at Bigtank.
“We have built a team here that all get on, we all enjoy what we do, we have fun, and our clients keep coming back for more.”

it’s an amazing tool but we must be careful that AI doesn’t steal the soul out of a lot of things
