Preston headquartered business brokerage Altius Group has reported a strong first quarter, completing the sale of 54 businesses across the UK. The transactions were driven by activity in the group’s specialist sectors, with 36 deals completed in childcare, 11 in healthcare and a further seven across the corporate and commercial markets.

Operating from Malvern Mill on Waterford Street in Nelson, the business specialises in precision sheet metalwork, welding and prototype manufacturing services for a range of sectors.
A new mural celebrating South Shore’s heritage and community spirit has been unveiled in Blackpool. ‘Within Ya Grasp’ is the first artwork to be completed as part of The Big HeArt Project, an initiative designed to use public art to celebrate local stories, bring communities together and create artwork inspired by Blackpool’s past and present. Angela Kershaw, head of business growth at Blackpool Council, said the mural celebrates South Shore’s identity and encourages residents and visitors to explore the area’s history.

A £3,500 donation from national accountancy and advisory firm MHA has helped improve the financial literacy of young people in Lancaster. The funding, awarded to Marsh Community Centre through the MHA 1892 Foundation, supported a six-week project designed to encourage participants to think about money through the lens of future careers. The grant is one of five made so far this year by the foundation to charities and organisations across the North, totalling £17,500 and aimed at improving financial literacy among young people.

Children from Downholland Haskayne CE Primary School in Ormskirk enjoyed an educational visit to Bellway Homes’ Lydiate Gate development. Andy Sharpe, Bellway’s site manager at Lydiate Gate, welcomed the pupils and led a tour of the development, showcasing homes at different stages of construction. The visit gave the children an insight into the housebuilding process, from concrete foundations and timber frames through to completed watertight properties.
