Founded in 1956, Holgates owns and operates caravan and holiday parks across Lancashire and Cumbria headed by the flagship site in Silverdale. Strong holiday home sales saw pre-tax profits at £6.32m.


3 2025: 6 Chain Link Holdings, Clitheroe


Chain Link is the holding company of skip hire and building contractor JA Jackson and Hargreave Tarnacre. It owns quarries and supplies building materials, aggregates and ready-mix concrete to civil engineering sectors and construction. It employs 51 and pre-tax profits for the year stood at £6.86m.

1 2025: 1 GFGB Holdings, Mitton


GFGB Holdings is a Ribble Valley-based family business with interests in dairy farming, mixed agriculture and rural land investment. Strong milk prices helped drive growth during the year, with turnover increasing from £13.95m to £16.85m. Pre-tax profits rose from £10.2m to £11.5m. The company has joint ventures in Hungary.


2 New entry McDermott Homes, Altham


Established in 1992, McDermott Homes is a regional housebuilder operating across the North West and Yorkshire, delivering a mix of private residential developments and family housing schemes. Pre-tax profits were down to £11.44m from £15.76m the previous year and turnover had fallen to £28.26m from £42.34m. Directors said one of the risks was the ability to source good quality land for future development at suitable profit margins and obtaining planning permission in a timely manner.
