LOGISTICS HUB SET TO DELIVER 1,500 JOBS

A £100m industrial and logistics hub expected to create up to 1,500 jobs has been launched in Preston.

APTUS is being developed on a 40 acre site close to Junction 31a of the M6 by HB Barnfield, a joint venture between HBD (Henry Boot Developments) and Nelson based Barnfield Group.

Once complete, the scheme will provide 790,000sq ft of industrial and logistics space. Infrastructure works have now been completed, with development under way across the site.

Kerakoll is already constructing a 145,000sq ft manufacturing and distribution centre at APTUS, while Origin, a joint venture between HBD and Feldberg Capital, is delivering a further three units totalling 107,000sq ft. Two of those units are already under offer.

Around 500,000sq ft of industrial and logistics space remains available, including opportunities for a single occupier requiring up to 455,000sq ft.

Occupiers, agents and industry stakeholders gathered on site for the launch event, where they were shown progress on the development.

Vivienne Clements, executive director at HBD, said: “The launch of APTUS marks a significant milestone for what is set to become one of Lancashire’s premier industrial and logistics destinations.

“Bringing together occupiers, agents and partners on site gave us the opportunity to showcase the progress that has already been made and

the scale of the opportunity available. With infrastructure complete, development underway and strong early interest from the market, we’re seeing real momentum build at APTUS.

“It will create up to 1,500 jobs, attract new investment into Preston and support the continued growth of businesses across Lancashire and the wider North West.

“The development has been designed to accommodate a diverse range of occupiers, from advanced manufacturing businesses through to logistics and distribution operators, helping to strengthen the region’s economic base and create long-term employment opportunities.

“With direct access to Junction 31A of the M6, APTUS is ideally positioned to connect occupiers with regional, national and international markets.

“As companies continue to prioritise resilience, sustainability and access to talent, developments such as APTUS have an important role to play in supporting economic growth and ensuring Lancashire remains a competitive place to invest and do business.

“We are pleased to be bringing forward another development that will support investment, jobs and economic growth across the region.”

Tracy Clavell-Bate, head of development and acquisition at Barnfield Group, said: “The launch event was a great opportunity to showcase the progress being made on site and the quality of the development that is taking shape.

“As construction continues, we look forward to seeing the development support new jobs, investment and opportunities for businesses across the region.”
