26 2025: 25 Mears Flooring, Preston


Mears, launched as a brush manufacturer and hardware merchant in 1802 and sells carpets, vinyls, laminates, wooden floors and rugs. Earlier this year, Mears was acquired by All Interests Aligned (AIA), a Switzerland-based management buy-in investment platform and broke the 220 year family ownership chain. Turnover for the company increased by three per cent to £13.71m and profit before tax was £3.1m.

Juta UK develops, produces and distributes specialist materials for the construction industry. Its Titantech range includes membranes for the gas protection, structural waterproofing and civil and containment engineering sectors. Pre-tax profits grew from £3.56m to £3.72m.

Aaban Partnership is an established care provider offering specialist mental health and residential treatment services for young people with complex social and behavioural needs. The business saw turnover increase from £8.37m to £9.92m.

Cherrytree began life in 1984 producing local favourites such as Chorley cakes and parkin. Growth has accelerated in recent years expanding its facilities and product range, targeting national retailers, and significantly increasing its workforce. Sales in the period were £36.59m and pre-tax profit was £3.87m.
