WINNING FOR THE LONG-TERM


Together with venue partner Burnley Football Club, we brought together a selection of this year’s Red Rose Awards winners to reflect on what winning has meant for their businesses.


The written submission is one thing, but it’s when you walk into the judging room that it really comes to life. You’ve got four or five people probing your business. You present for 10 minutes and then they challenge you. You come away asking yourself, ‘Do we need to do something about this?’ or, ‘Is there an area of weakness here?’ You learn because you’ve got people with different skill sets trying to understand your business from different perspectives.


For me, that’s as valuable as winning. We were finalists in three categories and won one, but my immediate question was: why didn’t we win the other two? We reached out for feedback because it’s all part of that continuous cycle of learning, understanding and celebrating. You take those lessons back to the team and look at what you can do better next time.


Winning raises your profile. We’re a UK and Ireland business, but being recognised in a respected regional awards programme reinforces your credibility. It shows customers, investors and potential partners that you’re a professional


organisation. We’ve already had approaches through the networking opportunities that have come from the awards, including conversations around future investment and acquisitions. For us, that’s where the long-term value lies. The award is recognition, but it also opens doors and creates opportunities for future growth.
