AGM SERVICES Automotive services and engineering


AGM Services provides spraybooth maintenance and repair for automotive centres across the UK, alongside award- winning in-house software designed to reduce energy use and carbon emissions.


Founded more than 33 years ago, the second-generation family business now has a turnover of £5.5m and four family members are actively involved.


Its growth has been driven by innovation and a commitment to service. The business has expanded from six employees in 1993 to a national operation, while maintaining a strong family ethos.


Wesley Young, from AGM, says: “We prioritise customer experience and employ our own people rather than outsourcing.


“When the business started in 1993, there were six people working for us. That has increased to 60 and more than 25 per cent of staff have worked for us for 25 years.”


Looking ahead, Wesley says AGM is focused on net zero solutions.


“The next few years will be shaped by the development of our energy, cost and carbon reduction solutions.


“Our commitment to training and development will allow us to maintain our industry-leading position while expanding our head office operations to provide more employment and opportunities.”


AINSWORTH JEWELLERS Luxury jewellery retailer


Ainsworth Jewellers is a fifth-generation family business with more than 155 years of heritage. Under Phil Ainsworth and Helen Dimmick, it has evolved into a destination retail experience.


Recent growth has been significant, with turnover rising by almost 50 per cent in 2025.


Phil Ainsworth says its growth has not been “driven by discounting or aggressive online selling” but through “relationship-building and emotional connection”.


He says: “Ainsworth has consolidated its position as one of the North West’s most respected independent jewellers by investing strategically in people, partnerships, storytelling and immersive experiences.”


KELMORE Tile and flooring products manufacturer


This fast-growing, award-winning manufacturer provides high-performance products for the tile and flooring sectors.

Phil adds: “We’ve taken the jewellery experience directly to customers in homes and exclusive venues through private consultations and events.


“This personalised approach allows clients to engage with jewellery in intimate settings, strengthening trust and reinforcing the bespoke nature of the business.”


RITHERDON & CO Electrical enclosures manufacturer


From producing bicycle parts in the 1800s and supporting national efforts during both world wars to specialising in electrical enclosure design, Ritherdon & Co has played a longstanding role in Lancashire’s manufacturing history.

Leveraging the Kelly family’s industry reputation, the business secured early buy-in from 95 per cent of its target customers prior to launch.


Rachael Brighouse, from Kelmore, says the business will ‘continue to grow’ while ‘proactively investing in infrastructure to support this’.


She adds: “Extending our laboratory and increasing our workforce to 70 will facilitate our growth with innovation and R&D remaining a focus. We are ahead of our sales and production forecasts and on track to exceed our financial target.


“Having established Kelmore as a recognised brand, we are confident our growth and market presence will continue to strengthen.”


THE MOORINGS BAKERY Food production and bakery


The Moorings Bakery is a Blackburn based family bakery producing breads, cakes and pies, with roots stretching back to 1950 through three generations.


Started by grandmother Stella, the business was passed down to her son Steve, who built Clayton Park Bakery from scratch. After it was sold in 2011, Steve returned to his love of baking, joining his son Robert, who established The Moorings Bakery in 2014.


Daughter Hannah Booth joined the fold in 2022 and there are now five family members working within a 20-strong team, delivering products across Lancashire, Greater Manchester and the Fylde Coast, with turnover exceeding £1.2m.


Growth has been steady, organic and customer- led, with the business growing from a handful of customers to more than 170 today.


Hannah says: “Word of mouth did the work, deliveries expanded from a small local radius to three counties and new product lines have been added as demand grew.”


The business purchased Blackburn landmark Waterfall Mill and invested in new equipment to increase production before opening a shop.


Hannah adds: “The business has grown, but the values haven’t changed. We want to keep doing what we love, baking things we’re proud of and investing in our community through donations to schools and charities.”
