SUPPORTING GROWTH AND STRUCTURING SUCCESS

By Andrew Clare, Partner, Corporate at Harrison Drury

Lancashire’s latest Hot 100 list is a compelling reminder that the county’s economic strength lies in the depth, ingenuity and resilience of its SME community.

Spanning sectors from construction and advanced manufacturing to agriculture, healthcare and professional services, the list reflects a regional economy that is both diverse and firmly growth oriented.

The continued prominence of construction and property led businesses points to a sustained demand for development and infrastructure across the region. At the same time, a strong manufacturing base from specialist steel and timber

products to commercial vehicle production, demonstrates the county’s continued leadership in high-value production.

Equally the rise of diversified service- led organisations including healthcare, education and professional services, shows an economy built not on a single industry but on a resilient mix of owner- managed businesses, family enterprises and ambitious management teams.

For Harrison Drury, this landscape resonates deeply. With roots in Lancashire stretching back 125 years, the firm has long been part of the communities driving the region’s success. That longevity represents

more than heritage; it reflects a deep understanding of how local businesses evolve, scale and adapt. With a number of offices across the county, we are proud to sponsor a list recognising businesses creating value, employment and momentum across Lancashire.

For many of those businesses, success brings opportunity, but also complexity. Growth may require investment, new banking arrangements, acquisitions, commercial contracts, property commitments, governance structures or shareholder agreements. Owners may be considering succession, employee incentives, management buyouts or a future sale. These are not merely legal processes; they are moments that can materially affect value, control and long-term stability.

We work with companies at every stage, helping structure transactions, manage risk and support confident decisions with commercially grounded, responsive legal advice. The Hot 100 ultimately tells a story of ambition and confidence, reinforcing our commitment to supporting Lancashire businesses as long-standing partners in their success.
