Euro Energy upgrades the energy performance certificates of domestic dwellings. I started the business in a bedroom at home with a laptop. I first contacted Boost because I felt I needed an alternative viewpoint.


It was just me on my own. I love analysing things and I’m not scared of constructive criticism. I think feedback’s the only way you get good at something. So, I reached out to Boost.

I needed to do something, but I didn’t know what or how. Boost’s Two Zero Programme for scaleup businesses opened up all different avenues.


I went on to attend peer-to-peer network and masterclasses, meeting a network of people who are local and experiencing similar problems.


We looked at a growth plan but didn’t know how we would do it, if that makes sense. Three years on we’d managed it and we were even ahead of where we wanted to be.


When you look back at what you’ve achieved in that timeframe, there’s a lot of hard work but some magic as well.


I don’t think we’d be in the position we’re in now if we hadn’t gone through the Boost programme.


You start off with one bit and it dovetails into the next.


Through it all you’re growing, not just as a business, but as a person as well. The confidence it has instilled in me has help us take the business to the next level.


Moving forward, we’ve grand plans to move into the world of automation and robotics. We’re on that journey and we’re hoping to take our business and customers with us and a little bit at a time, so it’s not too scary.

You don’t know what you don’t know and when you’re starting up you lead with a scattergun approach and you’re quite bullish.


Then you get to a point where you are an actual


company and you need to bring in processing procedures or a proper pattern. The advisor I was put in touch with really helped with this when it came to road mapping everything.


It is good to see how Boost can help, whatever period you are at in your business journey.


I wasn’t sure what to expect when I reached out but then, when I was getting the advice and going through the programme, I was pleasantly surprised how it could improve the business.


We’re looking at opening up satellite offices across the UK in strategic locations and I’m just looking forward to continuing the journey with Boost.

We look to help resolve the problems of businesses that come to us by first of all listening to what they are really looking for.


When it comes to recruitment, we have an apprenticeship matching service. Businesses can put in their vacancy and we then see if we can find that ‘perfect learner’ for them.


We tap into 200 schools and colleges as well as the Department for Work and Pensions and Jobcentre.


On finance, we can tap into a whole host


of different areas including Innovate UK, looking at how we can get funding to support innovation and diversification that takes a business to the next level.


We also work with the Innovation Lab on finding solutions for businesses and we can help with website development. As a university we have to change the image that we’re just for students when actually we are open for business with business.


Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is an opportunity to get funding from Innovate UK, to help bring in a PhD or Masters student into a business for two or even three years. It is a brilliant way of growing an organisation to the next level.


We’re also developing a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) portal to help businesses with their management development, which is an exciting opportunity.
