44 New entry Hispec, Chorley
Hispec initially launched in 2002 as a supplier of general electrical products before finding success with its own range of electronic transformers. The company went on to design and develop a range of fluorescent lamps and luminaires that evolved into a full lighting range alongside safety products as well as fire detection, air quality and emergency ranges. Meanwhile, the company expanded its customer base outside of the North West, now serving the whole of the UK and Ireland, also doubling its team from 13 to 26. As a result of its growth from 2019 onwards, Hispec was named one of the Sunday Times 100 fastest growing companies.
3 New entry Breck, Preston
Breck was founded in 2020 by Andy Garnett, who had previously co-founded MCI and saw it become one the North West’s largest affordable housing developers before it was sold to Keepmoat Homes. The company has three divisions: Breck Investments focuses on commercial property investment opportunities, Breck Developments concentrates on strategic land opportunities and special projects, while Breck Homes specialises in the construction of affordable properties for registered providers.
1 New entry Tangerine Group, Lytham St Annes
Tangerine Group manufactures a variety of nutritional supplements for farm, equine and companion animals under brands including Agri-Loyd, FarmSense and VetPlus. The business was established by current chairman David Haythornthwaite, whose parents worked in farming, in 1991. It now has exclusive partners or subsidiaries in 42 countries, with a particularly strong presence in Europe, Asia and North America. During the year, the company worked to strengthen its ties with South America by opening a base in the Argentine capital city Buenos Aires. Overall, the company registered just over £7m profits on £33m revenues while employing a workforce of more than 180.

Harrison Leisure is a family-owned holiday company which began life in 1970 with George Harrison investing £250 in a single caravan. Today, it operates nine holiday parks from Northumberland to Suffolk offering a range of luxury self-catering holiday homes, touring and motorhome pitches and glamping pods.
