“T-Level employers also benefit from the network support of the T-Level Ambassador network and dedicated training programmes for T-Level mentors. At Blackburn College, we host T-Level employer networks for all sectors, and this gives a great opportunity for businesses to network and share best practice.”
Neil adds: “Supporting T-Levels has numerous broader benefits, particularly in avoiding skills gaps in high-demand industries.
“Of course, businesses which get involved with T-Levels are also contributing to the local economy by preparing a skilled workforce, enhancing community ties by investing in local education and career development as well as helping bridge the gap between academic and practical skills, which is vital for economic growth, and an invaluable service for learners.”

But there are more immediate benefits, too. Claire says: “Our T-Level employers can get involved in setting ‘live’ project briefs which are real problems that their business needs to solve. Our students, working with sector trained tutors, can apply their skills to bring new ideas and solutions.
“For example, our engineering students are working with the latest testing facilities to provide information to the employer on material strength of their product.”
Colleges across Lancashire are eager to hear from businesses.
Neil says: “At Burnley College we’re eager to collaborate with any innovative company, regardless of size, that is excited to shape the future workforce. We are also interested in talking to industries experiencing significant skills shortages so we can work together to build a better and more resilient pipeline

for filling vacancies. Companies committed to providing meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for students are always welcome, plus businesses willing to invest in the next generation of professionals.”
Andy adds: “We have learners in placements across a whole range of organisations across the region and include public and private sector organisations. Within this the size and scale vary from SMEs to the NHS and blue chip companies. Size and scale doesn’t really matter, what really matters is developing a pipeline of talent to meet the skills needs of the individual sector and the workplace setting.
Claire adds: “Blackburn College is particularly looking to work with businesses who can offer opportunities in engineering and manufacturing as well as the business and professional services sectors, as these areas are showing rapid growth.”
T-Levels
Blackburn College’s T-Level programmes align educational outcomes with workforce demands. Our strategic partnerships with local and regional employers are essential for securing industry placements, a core component of the T-Level qualification.
We are looking for employers to be a part of our commitment to providing comprehensive, industry-relevant education, equipping students with the skills needed for today’s job market.
