SKILLS DRIVING BUSINESS GROWTH

By Linda Dean, Managing director of the Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology

Small and medium-sized businesses are the lifeblood of Lancashire. They keep industries alive, give our region a place on the international stage and provide lifelong careers.

The Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology is proud to sponsor the Hot 100 and, in doing so, support businesses doing amazing things.

These 100 names have demonstrated strong growth, resilience and innovation and should, rightly, be delighted to have made the list.

They’re exactly the kind of businesses we’re keen to work with as we continue our mission to boost the region’s skills base through collaboration.

We’re forming employer advisory groups to enable a continuous flow of insight that will shape our curriculum. We want to know which skills businesses need so we can build workforces that make an impact.

The IoT is a journey for Lancashire and Cumbria and we see businesses like the Hot 100 as central to that.

Esse, Barnoldswick

Esse has produced stoves and range cookers since the 1850s. Still built in the UK, the products can be found in the kitchens of the Savoy, royal residences, and in homes and businesses around the world. The revenues of £7.5m were boosted by investment properties owned by the holding company.
