BURNLEY BONDHOLDERS
So what is the Bondholder scheme, and what’s behind its continued levels of much-envied success?
In short, it is a consortium of businesses in Burnley that are passionate about the benefits of being based in the town - and where the borough is heading.
These innovative and resilient companies come together to share best practice, ideas, suppliers, resources at the many networking events held throughout the year. Many of these events are held at the premises of the members.
INCLUSIVE CLUB THAT CELEBRATES INNOVATION AND RESILIENCE
Fifteen years ago, Burnley Council launched its Bondholders network to bring businesses of all sizes and sectors together.
Within 12 months, the scheme had helped the east Lancashire town become “Britain’s most enterprising place” according to the Enterprising Britain Awards.
Back then, the Bondholder scheme had already amassed around 100 members and become a shining example for cities and towns around the UK to follow.
Now, Burnley Bondholders has more than doubled in strength, boasting more than 200 member companies.
The Bondholders team also supports member companies through PR, marketing materials, business support and trade visits.
Sometimes, a business may benefit from merely supporting its local community, more often it can take advantage of the wealth of knowledge and expertise made freely available, in the most notable cases, member businesses work with and for each other, providing a significant boost to the Burnley economy.
All types of organisations are invited to join and contribute. Over the following pages, we’ll show you a selection of the variety of businesses that make up the Bondholder network, and ask them how being a Bondholder has benefited them specifically.

What we’ve achieved
Last year, we were proud to have secured a landmark partnership with Network Rail, which means our fleet management app is now used by 44,000 unique Network Rail employees across a fleet of more than 10,000 vehicles. Additionally, another 150 companies joined us in 2023, bringing our total client base to almost 1,000. It feels like the only way is up for us.
