Ash Alderson Manager, North West Business Training

About us

As North West Business Training commercial manager, I’m really proud of the wide range of support we can offer all businesses within Lancashire and beyond. From skills matrix analysis to upskilling, and even reducing sickness in the workplace, we utilise the multiple industry-leading divisions at Burnley College to offer specialist training, working with huge brands like Coca Cola to one-person enterprises.

Why we love doing business in Lancashire

NWBT has excellent relationships with a variety of businesses, helping them grow their knowledge and skills to build talent pipelines. The county has a breadth of industries from engineering to fitness, construction to education and it is an honour to play our part in their success. Our partnerships open doors for students, with our impressive alumni returning with their employers to continue their professional development.

What’s great about living in Lancashire

Outside of work, I am privileged to be a Burnley Football Club Business Ambassador. I help nurture their relationships and have grown the college’s partnership with the club and launched the unique College Clarets takeovers.

As a renowned strength and conditioning coach, I enjoy coaching professional athletes to excel, like England international rugby player Herbie Farnworth.

Why we love doing business in Lancashire

Lancashire is great for businesses who want to collaborate and help each other grow, whether this is selling products to one another or helping and advising.

Business owners here not only have an entrepreneurial mindset, they really want to make a change and become more sustainable.

Many are doing this by producing and storing their own energy onsite.

What’s great about living in Lancashire

Living in Barley, with Pendle Hill and the surrounding forests on your doorstep, is a real pleasure.

To be able to just set off walking up and and around is great. It also helps that there are two great pubs in the village. And it’s also useful to have great towns such as Burnley only a small commute away.
