DAS EDELWEISS Salzburg Mountain Resort SALZBURG, AUSTRIA

DAS EDELWEISS SALZBURG MOUNTAIN RESORT IS THE IDEAL LUXURY RETREAT FOR ACTIVE TYPES, AS WELL AS THOSE SEEKING RELAXATION

After an extensive renovation in summer 2023, DAS EDELWEISS Salzburg Mountain Resort now includes a modern building with 86 spacious suites, each decorated in a sophisticated alpine style. The large EDELWEISS Mountain Spa features an indoor water park with five slides, two outdoor infinity pools, numerous saunas and separate areas for families and adults to enjoy. Guests can satiate their desires with award-winning ‘mountain cuisine’, focused on the use of local ingredients in a number of beautiful restaurants and bars. This five-star resort has been run by the

Hettegger family for three generations, who carefully ensure the excellent service and cosy ambience endures into the future.

Location With its location in the scenic Grossarl Valley, DAS EDELWEISS Salzburg Mountain Resort is at the heart of Salzburg’s impressive mountainscape, surrounded by spectacular views and serving as

an ideal starting point for activities. The resort is located just one hour away from Salzburg Airport and a few metres from the gondola station, providing direct access to Austria’s famed Ski Amadé winter sports area, with 470 miles of slopes. In summer, numerous skiing trails and mountain bike trails lead into the alpine wonderland of Salzburgerland, with its clear mountain lakes and 40 well-maintained mountain huts. The historic city of Salzburg — the former home of Mozart — is located just over 40 miles north of Grossarl and well within range for a day trip.

Architecture & design DAS EDELWEISS Salzburg Mountain Resort underwent a substantial renovation in summer 2023 as well as in 2019. The main house was completely renovated with painstaking attention to detail and supplemented by a new building that blends harmoniously into the surrounding hilly landscape. The 17 newly created family suites offer spacious layouts with large window fronts

and a private spa area. Earthy tones and natural materials such as stone, glass and wood create a warm and cosy atmosphere. The lighting design features the work of Macchina della Luxe by Catellani & Smith. The luxury resort now features 86 suites and

50 rooms in a modern alpine style, numerous restaurants, an alpine bar and lounge, the Kork & Gloria wine bar, the Churchill cigar lounge, a spacious ski depot and an event area.

Breathtaking penthouse suites The six penthouse suites are a particular highlight, with two bedrooms featuring extra king-size beds and bathrooms, cosy seating areas and spacious terraces with mountain views. The three new ‘Top Suites’ offer an even more elevated experience of luxury, featuring a private whirlpool bath, huge terrace and living area with its own dining area. Cosy wintertime moments are guaranteed once the weather turns cold, courtesy of the private fireplace and sauna.

Need to know

EDELWEISS Mountain Cuisine The award-winning EDELWEISS Mountain Cuisine is headed by family member and chef Alexander Hettegger, who attaches great importance to the use of local produce and culinary variation. Among other things, there’s a breakfast buffet in the form of a ‘marketplace’ and ‘juice room’. In the evening, guests can choose from a regional, vegan or international menu and take a seat in one of the six lounges. Meat-lovers will flock to Sirloin Steak

Restaurant for mouth-watering meat dishes. Wine connoisseurs will get their money’s worth at Kork & Gloria wine bar, which offers a vast selection of fine wines. Also bringing his skills to the hotel is Laos-born top chef Alexis Savanx, who has years of experience in Asian fusion cuisine in restaurants and luxury hotels around the world. He showcases his prodigious cooking skills with stunning sushi creations and — new since summer 2023 — unique Asian cuisine with Japanese and Thai specialities.

Ski in, ski out While there are a large number of family-friendly hotels in the village of Grossarl, the standout option for family convenience has to be Das Edelweiss. It is one of the few mountain resorts in the area that that offers ski in, ski out access near the ski school meeting point, as well as in-house equipment rental. The gondola station is only 60 meters away from the resort, adding to the sense of convenience. This family-run resort is also offering new family

areas that opened in summer 2022 that blend sophisticated luxury and unparalleled convenience with a traditional Alpine atmosphere. The ski experience here will become even better

in winter 23/24, with a new gondola station opening in December, as well as a brand new restaurant at the top of the mountain. And, of course, after an exciting day on the

slopes, the expansive and luxurious relaxation area of DAS EDELWEISS is all yours.
