Hotel Casa Pestagua CARTAGENA DE INDIAS, COLOMBIA
Hotel Casa Pestagua is a boutique Relais & Chateaux hotel located in the historic centre of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. The hotel is housed in a beautifully restored 17th-century palacete and was once the home of Andrés Idelfonso de Madariaga y Morales, an influential Spanish aristocrat who played a significant role in the city’s economic and political status. Guests who visit Casa Pestagua will delight in
its highly celebrated architectural features that convey its long and fascinating history. From the double-height ceilings and Moorish-inspired arches to the lush palm-filled internal gardens, visitors can expect an atmosphere of romance, relaxation and luxurious comfort. The hotel’s 11 suites and five rooms all come
with modern amenities, and each has been elegantly designed with its own unique details and furnishings. Rooms offer views of either the historic city or the hotel’s courtyard, where guests will find a pool and lounge area. A gym is also available. The hotel restaurant, Ánima (meaning ‘soul in Latin’), is a mix of Caribbean and traditional
Colombian design and has gained a reputation for its food, atmosphere and service. Helmed by executive chef Heberto Eljach, the restaurant ensures guests’ palates are excited by a range of traditional grilled dishes and use of carefully selected ingredients (including the highly celebrated native corn) from Colombia’s Pacific and Caribbean coasts. Guests will also be impressed by the hotel bar where expert mixologists serve up an array of cocktails. Casa Pestagua is located right next to Plaza
Santo Domingo, known for its outdoor cafes and restaurants, striking bronze statue of the Colombian artist Fernando Botero’s ‘Gertrudis’ and, of course, fascinating historical surroundings. During their stay, visitors can immerse themselves in the historic district of Cartagena and the plethora of historic monuments, intriguing streets and exclusive boutiques that stand within its ancient walls. From The Palace of the Inquisition and Cartagena Cathedral to The San Felipe Castle and its panoramic views, there is so much to experience while staying in one of Latin America’s most beautifully restored mansions.
DON’T MISS Explore the Cartagena — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — on foot, by bicycle, on a Segway, or even in a horse-drawn carriage
