Golden Rock Dive and Nature Resort SINT EUSTATIUS, DUTCH CARIBBEAN

Set between St Barts, St Kitts and St Maarten, St Eustatius is an idyllic Dutch Caribbean island with a rich history. Here, the five-star, eco-conscious Golden Rock

Dive and Nature Resort combines luxury, relaxation and adventure. The first of its kind on ‘Statia’ (as St Eustatius is referred to locally), the resort is situated at the foot of the island’s dormant volcano, the Quill, and spans 40 acres, offering an oasis of luscious gardens. Unlike the surrounding islands, Statia doesn’t

have mass tourism. For nature-lovers and wellness enthusiasts, Golden Rock Dive and Nature Resort offers an array of bookable activities, from stargazing to tarot reading. If the history of the island appeals, guests can explore the capital, Oranjestad, with a local guide, who can explain the first salute and american independence, as well as how Statia was settled as a Dutch territory. Balancing the services of a hotel with the freedom

of self-catering, Golden Rock Dive and Nature Resort offers a variety of accommodation. All rooms are comfortable and spacious with uninterrupted views

of the gardens, pools or ocean, and the decor is minimal with a neutral colour palette. The menu at restaurant Breeze features exquisite

dishes that draw on fresh local ingredients and global flavours. Meanwhile, Bobbie’s Beach Club offers a family-style sharing menu with stone-oven pizzas, sushi and an open grill. The resort also has its own 20,000sq ft

greenhouse, which provides the restaurants with fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs. The 2,240 solar panels produce enough electricity each day for the resort to be fully off-grid, and drinking water for guests is delivered via reverse osmosis machines. Golden Rock Dive and Nature Resort has

opened an in-house dive centre, Statia Divers. The experienced dive team are qualified to teach all PADI courses, from Discover Scuba Diving to Divemaster, and all participants will enjoy valet-guided dives to fit their comfort and experience level. The diving is diverse, and offers interesting topography from shallow reefs to lava flows. Wrecks, archaeological sites and colourful reefs are covered in coral sponges and beloved Caribbean creatures, big and small.

DON’T MISS Divers can explore 36 dive sites within St Eustatius National Marine Park, which offers some of the best diving in the Caribbean
