Fairtrade
Fairtrade means that local producers are paid a fair price for their products. Common Fairtrade goods include coffee, chocolate, tea and fruit.
Fairtrade is sustainable because producers can be sure of how much they will be paid and grow crops accordingly.
Many Irish companies support Fairtrade and many consumers seek out products that have been fairly traded. You can look for Fairtrade certification marks on goods when you are shopping.

In 2008, Electric Picnic, held in Stradbally, County Laois, became the world’s first Fairtrade arts and music festival.

Since then, all the tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar and bananas sold on the festival site each year have been Fairtrade certified.
